Is there any recourse to take against this company?

So you once worked for a company and left under good circumstances for another opportunity. Well, a few years later you return to the previous company because of recession. Unfortunately, you find out you're no longer eligible for rehire. The reason is based on number of days it's claimed you didn't show up for work without calling. The thing is in reality this didn't happen and the dates fall days after starting new job. Basically, ineligible status was obtained under false pretenses.
