What does the phrase " False Pretense" mean?

I was listening to this song "Take the Box" (love it) and Amy Winehouse said "Mr. False Pretense you don't make sense, i just dont know you".... what exactly does this mean in the way she used it. ALSO while we are on the subject of this what does " over futile odds" mean (Love is a Losing Game Amy Winehouse)???
